Counselling Appointments - What You Can Expect

At Guidelight we are committed to providing high quality psychological services to every client and organisation we serve.

Our treatments focus on changing behaviour without medication

Appointments are usually 50 - 60 minutes long.

The initial appointment may be longer to allow us plenty of time to understand your needs and to get to know you. A thorough initial consultation is important to ensure that subsequent sessions are helpful and relevant for you.

The initial session is charged at the same rate as a standard consultation.

Following your first session we focus on teaching you new skills and strategies for dealing with your problem more effectively. The skills will be based around:

• changing your thinking
• how you feel
• what you are doing in problem situations

With the aim to help you cope and perform more effectively in those situations.

We will generate a flexible plan that you are comfortable with and will help you get the most out of your appointments. Progress against your plan will be reviewed periodically, as will your therapy program.
